The legislative and judicial authorities agree to expedite the election of the Speaker of Parliament

Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohsen Al-Mandalawi and President of the Federal Supreme Court, Judge Jassim Mohammed Al-Amiri, agreed yesterday, Monday, to expedite the election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The media office of the Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives said in a statement: “The Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, and the Federal Supreme Court, Judge Jassim Muhammad Al-Amiri, called for accelerating the election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives,” indicating that they “discussed mechanisms for enhancing cooperation between the legislative and judicial authorities.”
The statement pointed out the importance of supporting the efforts and endeavors of the executive authority in implementing its government program to achieve the hopes and aspirations of the people, and agreeing on the necessity of resolving constitutional entitlements and accelerating the election of a Speaker of the House of Representatives, stressing the important role played by the Federal Court in protecting and preserving the constitution and the democratic system.
For his part, independent MP Hussein Al-Sabari explained, in an interview with Al-Sabah, that the Sunni component blocs held a meeting to choose a speaker for the House of Representatives, indicating that the Federal Court postponed the decision on the validity of the session until the date of
April 1st.
Al-Sabari expected that the House of Representatives would choose a president in the next session, noting that the head of the Parliamentary Sovereignty Bloc, Representative Salem Al-Issawi, is the closest to the position.
