Wasit moves bridge projects to relieve crowding

The Roads and Bridges Directorate in Wasit prepared a study and engineering designs to construct four bridges, which will relieve traffic congestion and facilitate vehicle movement.
Governor Muhammad Jameel Al-Mayahi confirmed last week that this step came after these projects witnessed a cessation that lasted more than ten years.
Director of the Roads and Bridges Directorate, Ahmed Salim, said in a statement to “Al-Sabah”: “The bridges will be part of multiple projects, as each bridge will be built separately, and the construction period of one bridge is expected to take a maximum of one and a half years.”
Saleem stressed that “these projects will have a great benefit in the governorate in terms of alleviating traffic congestion and facilitating the movement of vehicles and transportation between the two banks of the city of Kut,” explaining that these projects will not affect the green cover of the governorate.
He pointed out that “contracts will be made with investment companies and the costs of the projects will be determined through the contracts department in the governorate after the final approval of the designs.”
Salim stated that “the designs for the four bridges have been prepared and have previously been sent to the governor for final approval, as three of the bridges will be within the city of Kut, which are the Damok Bridge, the Key Bridge, the Suspension Bridge, and the Pring Bridge, which connects the Pring area to the city of Al-Aziziya.”
