The head of the Turkmen parliamentary bloc, Arshad al-Salhi, called on the Prime Minister to listen to all the parties that make up Kirkuk Governorate to prevent new strife, because the position of governor cannot be overlooked because he represents all components in Kirkuk.
Al-Salhi said, in a statement followed by Mawazine News, that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani promised to hold elections in Kirkuk during his meeting with us and that it would be agreed to rotate the position of Kirkuk and not make it for the Arab and Kurdish components only.
He added that the country does not have a monopoly on these components, and Kirkuk is a city that contains a national mix and has undergone geographical and demographic change by all standards, whether in 2003 or after 2017 again.
Al-Salhi pointed out that the Prime Minister listens to all parties, noting that we have great confidence in him because he wants to serve Iraq. Therefore, we hope that the issues of Kirkuk and Diyala will not spark a crisis, and that the parties will reach an agreement on joint management.
