Advisor to the Prime Minister and head of the Riyada Initiative team, Hussein Flamers, announced on Tuesday that the number of registrations for the Riyada Initiative had increased to more than 223 thousand applicants. While he confirmed the continuation of applications, he indicated that facilities would be provided to the applicant’s guarantor of the initiative’s loan.
Flamers said, in a statement reported by the official news agency, and seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “the Riyada initiative launched by Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani aims to support the private sector with youth energies and human resources, with the presence of a large youth generation in Iraq looking for new job opportunities.” ", indicating that "the private sector's support for the Riyada initiative provides an integrated atmosphere in terms of training and providing electronic registration that enables a person to register in the initiative while sitting at home through its electronic application."
He added, "This facilitated the process of reaching the largest possible segment, as the registration process at the beginning of its launch on March 4, 2023 included 182,589 applicants within 30 days of registration," explaining that "there are large segments of society who believe in the private sector and are waiting for the appropriate atmosphere." And creating the atmosphere through the government for training and obtaining soft loans to establish projects.”
He continued, "There are solid institutions with infrastructure and employees, where these employees train applicants for the leadership initiative in vocational training centers, youth and sports directorates, and forums that contain appropriate training halls to train applicants with the required entrepreneurial needs and skills through which projects can be established and developed." He explained that "the registration process for the initiative is still ongoing."
He stressed that "the number of those registered for the initiative has reached 223,015 thousand applicants to date, as they were submitted through the application of the Riyada initiative," while the number of trainees reached 21,000, those who completed the training 12,972, and those who succeeded 10,183, while the number of completed courses reached 1,041, and the number of applicants for the economic feasibility form. for loans 9853.”
He pointed out that “one of our activities includes training young people to use applications through in-person training for applicants through trainers who have been qualified in school seats, training centers, or youth and sports forums.”
He stressed that “graduates from these courses will have a business idea.” An integrated project,” pointing out, “We are looking for ideas under the slogan ‘Towards an entrepreneurial society’, meaning that everyone has the right to obtain a job opportunity in his country and the opportunity to realize his ideas in his country, and this is our ambition.”
He stated that “There is no naive idea, as any young man He presents an idea that we study with him to ensure that this idea is correct, successful, and required,” explaining that “the initiative’s loans start from one million dinars, two million, and three million dinars and reach 20 million dinars according to controls, but when the 100 million loans are activated, they will need new controls.”
He pointed out, “ We are working to transform our youth into producers, and we have set the guarantor condition, which was a somewhat complicated issue, as if the guarantor is a recipient of a loan or a guarantor for another person, he is not allowed to guarantee the applicant for the initiative loan, but we asked the Rafidain and Al-Rashid banks to allow multiple guarantees,” he explained. “The two banks initiated this support for Iraqi youth, and there are contacts with the Iraqi Trade Bank, and the issue is now under study.”
