    The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, confirmed today, Sunday, that Iraq is looking forward to distinguished relations with Turkey at various levels, during his reception at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, the Ambassador of the Turkish Republic to Iraq, Ali Riza Konay.

    The Presidency’s Media Department stated in a statement received by Alsumaria News, “The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, the Ambassador of the Turkish Republic to Iraq, Ali Riza Konay,” indicating that “during the meeting, emphasis was placed on developing bilateral relations.” “And to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two countries in a way that serves the common interests of the two friendly peoples.”



    The President of the Republic stressed - according to the statement - “the importance of strengthening relations and cooperation between Baghdad and Ankara, and enhancing joint action at the international and regional levels to consolidate security, stability and peace in the region.”

    He pointed out that "Iraq is looking forward to distinguished relations with its neighbor Turkey at various levels, and it is also keen to establish relations with brotherly and friendly countries based on respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs."

    For his part, Ambassador Ali Reza Konai expressed his country's endeavor to consolidate cooperation and mutual coordination to reach common understandings on issues between the two countries and regional issues. The ambassador also reviewed the ongoing arrangements for the Turkish President's visit to Iraq.
