the leader of the Azm Alliance, former MP Faris Al-Faris, suggested on Thursday that a session to elect a new Speaker of the House of Representatives will be held next week, indicating that the competition will take place between the candidates of Al-Siyad and Azm.
Al-Faris told Mawazine News, “The pressures of the political forces regarding filling the legislative vacuum represented by electing a speaker of Parliament embarrassed the Sunni political forces that did not succeed in obtaining a consensus on a specific candidate for the presidency of the Council and were convinced to resolve the crisis according to what was decided by the Federal Court.”
He added, "The general trend is to hold the election of the Speaker of Parliament before the end of the current legislative term."
He suggested that "the election session will be held next week and the competition will be between the Azm candidate, MP Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, and the sovereignty candidate, MP Salem Al-Issawi."
