The Ministry of Electricity confirmed, on Sunday, that the government provides energy at subsidized prices to 4 categories, including citizens, while it provides support of up to 70% to agricultural and commercial stakeholders, with the aim of encouraging the national product and providing an attractive environment for investment.
The Ministry’s spokesman, Ahmed Moussa, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and seen by Al-Eqtisad News, that “there are 4 types of collections, including: residential for citizens, agricultural, industrial, and commercial, all of which are subsidized, and the residential category for citizens is supported by approximately 90%.”
He added, “As for the agricultural and commercial ones that are imposed on the owners of hotels, shops, and commercial businesses, they are provided with a subsidized tariff ranging from 60 to 70%,” pointing out that “the Ministry seeks to support various uses, whether industrial, agricultural, commercial, or even residential".
