The Veterinary Department in the Ministry of Agriculture announced the formation of 234 veterinary teams to reduce random carrots and the spread of hemorrhagic fever throughout the governorates.
Director General of the Veterinary Department in the Ministry, Thamer Al-Khafaji, said, “The Ministry of Agriculture submitted letters to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers to establish model slaughterhouses,” noting that “the existing slaughterhouses are few and dilapidated.”
Al-Khafaji explained, “Establishing slaughterhouses is not within the powers of the Ministry of Agriculture, but rather within the powers of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities. This matter is up to the Ministry.”
He pointed out, “There are joint coordination committees between the Veterinary Department and the Departments of Public Health, National Security, Interior, and Environment, to monitor random carrots.”
He added, “The measures taken against the perpetrators of random islands are to confiscate the machinery and equipment present in those places and close them, and to take pledges from people who practice this profession in unofficial and unlicensed places,” pointing out that “the governors in the governorates were approached, to establish regular places to be determined.” By the governorate, it is sprayed with pesticides to eliminate locusts, the vector that causes the main cause of hemorrhagic fever.”
He stressed that “the department is continuing the comprehensive national campaign, which was launched on the first of last April, to spray and immerse livestock, in addition to spraying the pens in which the animals are located, with an anti-locust pesticide.”
He continued, "The campaign included all governorates in 15 veterinary hospitals, and the formation of approximately 234 veterinary teams, made up of veterinarians who conduct continuous tours in all districts and districts of the governorates, to limit the spread of hemorrhagic fever."
