    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]The Iraqi Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs revealed that about 330,000 Iraqis suffering from chronic diseases have applied for a social welfare salary.[/rtl]
[rtl]Iraq provides financial salaries and monthly aid to the unemployed, widows, and orphans, noting that one salary does not exceed 180 thousand Iraqi dinars, an amount that does not cover the livelihood of the beneficiaries of these salaries.[/rtl]
[rtl]Spokesman for the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Najm Al-Aqabi, said, “Thalassemia and cancer patients are included in social care grants,” noting that “people with disabilities who have a score of 75 or above are also covered by care.”[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Aqabi explained: “The breadwinner was not entitled to apply for the social welfare salary, but after amending the law for people with disabilities and special needs, he is now allowed to, and the disabled person can obtain the aid, and the breadwinner can also apply,” adding that “the two salaries in this case do not intersect.” .[/rtl]
[rtl]He stressed that “a single first-degree breadwinner was allowed to support more than one person,” pointing out that “every disabled person has a salary.”[/rtl]
[rtl]According to previous statistics from the Social Welfare Department of the Iraqi Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the number of poor people in Iraq exceeds 10 million people, out of more than 43 million Iraqis. [/rtl]
[rtl]A spokesman for the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs indicated, “The social survey process for applicants with type 1 diabetes from the age of one to 18 will begin, starting tomorrow, Sunday (May 19, 2024).”[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Aqabi explained that “about 28,000 citizens suffering from diabetes throughout Iraq submitted applications to obtain the social welfare stipend,” noting that “the total number of people with all diseases in Iraq applying for the social welfare stipend is about 330,000 citizens, and the number of people with thalassemia ranges from These are about 4-5 thousand patients.”[/rtl]
[rtl]It is noteworthy that the data now approved by the Ministry of Planning, which dates back to the year 2018, indicates that the poverty rate in Iraq is 21%, and in the governorates of the Kurdistan Region it reaches about 6.5%.[/rtl]
