    Information / Baghdad..
Today, Saturday, a member of the Popular Legal Movement, Ahmed Shahid Al-Shammari, called on the House of Representatives to expedite the amendment of Article 57 regarding child custody.
Al-Shammari told Al-Maalouma, “This article is notorious, and amending it is necessary because it violates Islamic law, indicating that the article was approved by the Revolutionary Command Council and the dissolved Baath Party.”
He added, "There are popular, religious and political demands for the necessity of amending the article that is unfair to the Iraqi family."
He explained, “Ammending the article does not usurp the woman’s right to custody of children, but rather custody is shared between the two parties.” Ended/25H
