    Baghdad today - Erbil
An informed Kurdish source revealed, today, Monday (May 20, 2024), that political circles in the Kurdistan region are awaiting a decision to extend the life of the Election Commission.
The source said in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "the presidency of the Kurdistan region will be on a decision issued by the Federal Court regarding the lawsuit submitted by the head of the region's government, regarding the appeal of the Commission's procedures to register political entities for the region's parliament elections."
He added, "The President of the Kurdistan Region will await the court's decision for the purpose of announcing the postponement of the Kurdistan elections and setting a new date after all legal and technical conditions are met."
The session of the Iraqi Federal Court, yesterday, Sunday, to decide on the complaint of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, regarding the distribution of seats in the Kurdistan Parliament, was postponed until Tuesday, 5/21/2024, due to the absence of two of the Commission’s judges.
On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, the Federal Supreme Court issued a state order regarding the system for registering and approving candidate lists for the Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections No. (7) of 2024.
