    Baghdad today - Baghdad
A local source revealed today, Monday (June 3, 2024), the suspension of the process of renewing voter registration for the sixth session of the parliamentary elections of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
The source told "Baghdad Today", "The Election Commission has stopped renewing voter registration, and from now on, voters can only obtain their cards, after the end of the period specified by the Commission."
He added that "3 million and 800 thousand voters have the right to vote in the sixth session of the Kurdistan Parliament elections," noting that "3 million of them renewed their biometric cards, and some of them have not received their cards yet."
The Election Commission had officially asked the Kurdistan Region Presidency to set a date for the region’s parliament elections, due to its technical inability to hold them at the previously specified time on June 10th .
An informed source revealed a visit by the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, to Sulaymaniyah .
The source said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “Barzani will visit Sulaymaniyah and meet with the leaders of parties and blocs in the city, for the purpose of reaching an understanding with them about a new date for the regional parliament elections .”
He added, "Barzani wants to reach an understanding with the Kurdish parties, including the National Union, Change, Islamic parties, and the rest of the parties, before setting a new date for the regional parliament ."
