Mawazine News, obtained tables of the shares of all governorates from the 2024 budget, which the House of Representatives is seeking to vote on in today’s session.
A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Khalil Ghazi Al-Dosky, told Mawazine News, “The financial budget granted all governorates funds to cover the volume of expenditures from last year’s budget, and therefore most governorates have funds that have not been spent and Parliament cannot grant other budgets to the governorates, but rather give them the funds.” Which was disbursed during the year 2023 only.”
Regarding the Kurdistan budget, Al-Doski pointed out that “the region did not receive any amount from the 2023 budget, and therefore the government granted last year’s allocations in addition to some differences.”
Al-Dosky added, "The government will send other schedules next year, since operational and investment spending changes annually according to expected revenues, which mostly come from oil sales."
Yesterday evening, Sunday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee failed to vote on the budget tables in preparation for presenting them in today’s House of Representatives session due to a political decision, according to statements by committee members. However, today it completed voting on the tables and sent them to the Presidency of Parliament.
After hours of postponement, the House of Representatives recently held its special session to vote on the 2024 budget, in the presence of 199 representatives.
