The President of the Republic welcomes the idea of establishing an Italian university in Baghdad

Yesterday, Monday, President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid welcomed the idea of establishing an Italian university in Baghdad, stressing the need for cooperation and coordination in the field of archaeological missions and excavations.
A presidential statement stated, "The President of the Republic received the Italian Ambassador to Iraq, Maurizio Griganti, accompanied by the Italian Member of Parliament, Mauro Del Barba."
According to the statement, the President of the Republic praised “the strong relations between Iraq and Italy in many political, economic, cultural and environmental fields,” pointing out “the importance of working to strengthen and develop them.”
He added, "The two countries have a great cultural and historical heritage," stressing "the necessity of cooperation and coordination in the field of archaeological missions and excavations."
He appreciated "the role of Italian companies operating in Iraq, previously and currently, and the need to strengthen their presence in the country," welcoming "the idea of the Italian government, the project to establish an Italian university in Baghdad in the fields of architecture and civil engineering."
Rashid stressed "the importance of preparing engineers and qualifying their personal capabilities, as well as their scientific skills."
For his part, the Italian ambassador appreciated “the President of the Republic’s invitation to his Italian counterpart to visit Iraq,” noting that “work is underway to arrange the visit during the coming period.”
He stressed "Italy's support for the security and stability of Iraq and its aspiration to strengthen bilateral relations in a way that achieves common interests."
