The Voice of America network announced the “cessation” of the “sabotage” attacks that targeted a group of American restaurants and cafes in Baghdad over the past weeks, praising the “performance” of the Iraqi security authorities.
The network said that last week witnessed a "lack" of attacks committed by "masked gunmen" against American restaurant and café chains in the capital, Baghdad, explaining, "After the arrest of a group of them, last week witnessed a complete cessation of attacks."
The network also confirmed that the cessation of the attacks “reflected positively” on foreign investment opportunities in Iraq, explaining that the continuation of these attacks led to a “decline” in the desire of foreign investors to work in Iraq.
It is noteworthy that the American restaurant and cafe chains operating in Iraq have been subjected during the past weeks to “targeting and sabotage operations” carried out by “armed and masked groups,” according to the network’s description, which confirmed that these attacks “stopped” after the Iraqi government arrested eight elements accused of participating in these attacks. They were formally charged under the anti-terrorism law.
