    Baghdad today - Basra
Today, Thursday (June 13, 2024), the Office of the High Commission for Human Rights in Basra Governorate called for an emergency session of the Provincial Council to be held regarding the reality of dangerous pollution and climate change in Basra Governorate.
The director of the Commission’s office, Mahdi Al-Tamimi, said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “we had previously addressed the council to hold the session, but this did not happen, while he called for the necessity of following up on the decisions of the climate conference in the governorate, which was held previously, and working to discuss the continuation of emissions and pollution in the governorate.”
Al-Tamimi stated, “Basra is witnessing various environmental pollutants, and therefore discussing the continuing repercussions of this matter requires the Provincial Council to hold a session to discuss this matter and the solutions necessary to address it.”
