    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
A member of the Energy Committee in the former Kurdistan Regional Parliament, Jihad Hassan, confirmed today, Tuesday (June 18, 2024), that services, specifically energy supply, in the cities of Kurdistan are better than previous years.
Hassan told "Baghdad Today", "Since the beginning of the summer season, electricity has been installed in the governorates of the region, ranging between 16-18 hours a day."
He added, "The private generators operate after the main electricity is turned off, and although the gas stations in the region, especially the Cormor field in Sulaymaniyah, were bombed on more than one occasion, the electricity in the region is the best in all regions of Iraq."
He pointed out, "During the Eid al-Adha holiday, supplying in some cities was up to 20 hours per day, and this year is better than previous years, and with the entry of other gas stations, supplying will improve even more."
It is noteworthy that last summer, electricity supply in central and southern Iraq was ahead of Kurdistan, and the provinces of the region were complaining about the poor electrical situation during the past year, but the situation has changed this year, as the supply has declined significantly in central and southern Iraq compared to its progress in Kurdistan, despite From the Federal Ministry of Electricity’s announcement that production has increased to more than 25,000 megawatts compared to last year, which makes poor equipment a “mystery” for which the ministry has not yet provided an explanation.
In a remarkable development, Representative Youssef Al-Kalabi announced his intention to question the Minister of Electricity, Ziad Fadel, “due to the failure of his plans and violation of his promises” to improve the reality of electrical energy in the country.
