    Baghdad Today - Kirkuk
Today, Sunday (August 11, 2020), the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan sent messages of reassurance to the other components in Kirkuk Governorate, both Kurds and Arabs.
The member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Idris Haj Adel, said in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "the new governor, Ribwar Taha, will be for all the people of Kirkuk with all their components."
He said, "We are not in a position to take revenge on anyone or transgress against anyone. We want to start a new phase in Kirkuk of peaceful coexistence between the components and providing services to citizens without discrimination or differentiation between one component and another. This is what the governor will work on in partnership with the other components."
A meeting held yesterday, Saturday (August 10, 2024), in the capital, Baghdad, resulted in the election of Ibrahim Al-Hafez as Chairman of the Kirkuk Provincial Council and Ribwar Taha as Governor.
The meeting, which was held at Al-Rasheed Hotel in the capital, Baghdad, witnessed the absence of the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc and the Turkmen members, while three members of the Arab bloc were absent from the meeting.
On Saturday evening, the capital Baghdad hosted a meeting described as decisive to end the crisis of the administration of Kirkuk Governorate, by choosing a head of the provincial council and a governor for it, after a stalemate that lasted more than eight months.
The meeting, which was described as decisive, was held in the presence of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Arabs, and a representative of Christians in the Kirkuk Provincial Council.
