    Baghdad Today - Sulaymaniyah
Former member of the Board of Commissioners, Saeed Kakai, commented on Wednesday (September 4, 2024) on the Iraqi Commission’s supervision of the Kurdistan elections, and the extent to which this contributed to reducing fraud rates.
Kakai said in an interview with Baghdad Today that "the supervision and management of the parliamentary elections of the Kurdistan Parliament by the Independent High Electoral Commission is a qualitative shift to reduce fraud and manipulation of the results."
He added, "Everyone knows that the Independent High Electoral and Referendum Commission in the Kurdistan Region was affiliated with the Kurdish political parties operating in the region," indicating that "today, when we see the Independent High Electoral Commission of Iraq carrying out the election process in the region, this means a qualitative leap in reducing fraud and manipulation of election results."
On Friday (August 2, 2024), electoral expert Hawri Tawfiq presented a justification that “dispels” the possibility of rigging the elections for the regional parliament through the voting of thousands of Syrian, Turkish, and Iranian Kurds living in the region.
Tawfiq said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "This matter is absolutely impossible, and does not exist on the ground."
He added, "The main condition for the elections is the adoption of the biometric card, which relies on official Iraqi documents issued exclusively by the federal government. Therefore, no party can exploit these people and vote in the elections at all."
The Iraqi High Electoral Commission will supervise the Kurdistan Parliament elections for the first time, which will be held next October, which is a sufficient justification to undermine the claims of electoral fraud or the involvement of non-Iraqis in voting in the regional parliament elections, according to Kurdish observers and politicians.
