Advisor to the Prime Minister announces to {Sabah} the launch of the {Back to Education} initiative

Adnan Al-Sarraj, the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Education Affairs, revealed the launch of the “Return to Education” initiative, which targets more than 151,000 dropouts across the country and will last for 45 days. Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Ibrahim Namis Al-Jubouri, confirmed that attracting dropouts and returning them to school is one of the most important steps for sustainability under the auspices of the Prime Minister.
Al-Sarraj told Al-Sabah: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani’s “Return to Education” initiative aims to address the phenomenon of school dropouts and prepare special educational programs for that before the start of the new school year, especially in the liberated governorates.
He added that the initiative will continue for 45 days, praising the efforts of the Minister of Education, Dr. Ibrahim Namis Al-Jubouri, in supporting the initiative and the committee formed in the ministry to combine efforts to make it a success.
Al-Sarraj pointed out that there is coordination with UNICEF, which contributed to preparing comprehensive plans and training 1,688 educational staff to implement the initiative, with the formation of about 180 subcommittees throughout the country, especially in the liberated governorates.
Al-Sarraj pointed out that the initiative targets more than 151,920 dropouts of different ages in all governorates of the country, as the initiative seeks to return them to school.
He noted the Prime Minister's approval of all programs accompanying the initiative, and the General Directorates of Education in Baghdad and the governorates will be responsible for implementing them in cooperation with UNICEF with the support of relevant authorities. A media campaign will also be launched to raise awareness and educate the families of dropout students about the dangers of their children dropping out of school and to work on the necessity of their re-enrollment. In turn, the Director of Educational Television at the Ministry of Education, Zainab Al-Khafaji, told Al-Sabah: The Iraqi Educational TV channel launched a media campaign to support the "Return to Education" initiative in cooperation with UNICEF, which includes the production of short awareness programs aimed at urging families to return their children to school, as there is a series of episodes within 26 clips and scenes that guide dropouts through their content to the path of science and knowledge within the initiative. He added that two awareness clips are broadcast daily on the Educational Television channel and are replayed throughout the day to enhance the goals of the "Return
