    The Federal Integrity Commission announced, today, Tuesday (October 15, 2024), that the Recovery Department has concluded a cooperation agreement with the Arab and International Police Directorate in the Ministry of Interior, to prevent and combat corruption crimes, track down their perpetrators inside and outside Iraq, and recover corruption funds smuggled abroad.
    The Commission stated in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that "the agreement, which was signed by (Ayman Daoud Salman), Director General of the Recovery Department in the Commission, and Major General (Adel Ibrahim), Director General of the Arab and International Police Directorate in the Ministry of Interior, aims to cooperate to pursue perpetrators of corruption crimes internally and internationally to protect public money and deter perpetrators of corruption crimes, in line with the applicable national laws and legislation, as well as the laws and regulations of relevant international organizations."
    She added, "The agreement stipulates the exchange of information related to individuals and those wanted by the judiciary, and the funds and balances of those accused of corruption cases, and investigating the locations of those funds and those accused, which contributes to recovering the smuggled funds and tracking down their perpetrators."
    The Commission continued, "Cooperation and coordination in the field of auditing, cross-examination and analysis of information related to employees and those charged with public service and the parties required to provide information about them, and benefiting from the available database. The agreement also addressed coordination in implementing arrest warrants issued against perpetrators of corruption crimes who have fled outside Iraq."
    She explained that the two sides agreed to cooperate in following up on the circulation of the red notice or search notice issued against those wanted by the Authority internationally, and implementing policies and instructions related to the security aspect of individuals, assets, information, devices, documents and papers.
    The Commission explained that "the agreement included the formation of a joint coordination committee by a decision of the Chairman of the Federal Integrity Commission and with the approval of the Minister of Interior, which is responsible for determining the detailed topics of cooperation, following up on the mechanism and stages of implementing the provisions of the agreement, conducting a process of review and evaluation of the level of implementation, and developing proposals and solutions to address any disputes resulting from the implementation of the agreement."
