    Economy News - Baghdad

[rtl]The Parliamentary Services Committee indicated that there is tangible progress in the work of paving and developing some residential neighborhoods in the capital, Baghdad, expressing its hope to accelerate the pace of work to include other areas suffering from deteriorating service conditions.[/rtl]

[rtl]Committee member Hussein Habib Al-Zirjawi said, “The Baghdad Municipality has started developing more than 56 neighborhoods and main streets in Baghdad for about four months,” noting that “these efforts represent the beginning of improving public services in many areas that have been suffering from deteriorating infrastructure for years.”[/rtl]

[rtl]Al-Zirjawi pointed out that "these works came after preparing special schedules and approving them by the Ministry of Planning, and that the paving operations include many shops, in addition to some vital streets in the capital."[/rtl]

[rtl]He explained that "the challenges lie in the dilapidated water network in some neighborhoods, which prevented its full development. Coordination has been made with the Baghdad Municipality to ensure the implementation of work in the areas where the water network has been rehabilitated and to ensure the safety of the sewage networks."[/rtl]

[rtl]Al-Zirjawi added, "There is cooperation with the Ministry of Communications regarding the optical cable project, which is being implemented in the rehabilitated neighborhoods, stressing that this step will contribute to improving and developing communications networks in a way that serves citizens and enhances the efficiency of the infrastructure."[/rtl]

[rtl]He added, "The Services Committee hopes that the coming few days will witness an escalation in the pace of work, so that development and cladding work will include many areas that still suffer from a lack of services," stressing that "the committee is monitoring the progress of work to ensure the achievement of the desired goals and the improvement of the reality of the capital, Baghdad."[/rtl]
