Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani stressed the need to unify efforts between the Board of Trustees and the Presidency of the Iraqi Media Network, and to work in harmony according to professional standards. This came during his reception of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Network, Thaer Hattit Al-Ghanmi.
A statement from the Prime Minister's Media Office stated that "the meeting witnessed a discussion of the work provided by the Board of Trustees since its Chairman and members assumed responsibility," and the Prime Minister stressed, according to the statement, "the importance of the role of the Board of Trustees of the Media Network in consolidating national media and shedding light on community issues and highlighting government activities by unifying efforts with the Presidency of the Network and all its formations, and working in harmony according to professional standards." Al-Sudani directed to "remove all obstacles facing the work of the Board of Trustees of the Iraqi Media Network; in order to ensure the independence of its work and convey a true and professional image of the positive developments witnessed by the country." On the other hand, the Prime Minister directed to take a number of steps to enhance and develop electronic payment systems and services. The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a statement received by "Al-Sabah" that in implementation of the financial and economic reform approach, which represents one of the most important priorities of the government, the Prime Minister directed a number of steps to be taken to enhance and develop electronic payment systems and services.
The statement continued, that the steps are:
First: Work to localize the salaries of private sector employees, similar to the government sector, and assign the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Central Bank of Iraq, with the participation of a number of private sector institutions, to prepare an appropriate mechanism for this purpose. Second: Ministries and all government institutions to abandon cash payments and use electronic payments in collection and other related transactions, through an integrated plan submitted by each ministry or government institution before December 31, 2024, with actual implementation to begin no later than July 1, 2025. In addition, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani chaired a special meeting yesterday, Monday, to follow up on the procedures for automating work in the General Authority of Customs. A statement from the Prime Minister's Office, received by "Al-Sabah", stated that "Al-Sudani chaired a meeting yesterday, Monday, to follow up on the procedures for automating work in customs, during which the detailed plan for implementing the second phase of the automation process was reviewed." The meeting witnessed a discussion of the mechanisms by which the transformation and automation process is carried out at the ports and border crossings, where 11 crossings were completed, targeting the ports with the highest revenues and the most prepared to switch from paper to electronic transactions.
According to the statement, Al-Sudani directed the completion of the fiber optic cable and its connection to all remaining crossings, which would contribute to the transfer of information and its availability at all ports. The Prime Minister reiterated his emphasis on the importance of abandoning paper transactions at customs and adopting automated electronic transactions in order to ensure the success of this program adopted by the government, as it is one of the most important axes of economic and administrative reform, and achieves efficiency, transparency and simplification of procedures, in addition to maximizing the state's financial revenues. The Prime Minister also received the Dutch Ambassador to Iraq, Janet Alberda, yesterday, Monday. Al-Sudani congratulated the ambassador on assuming her duties in Iraq, stressing the importance of strengthening bilateral relations in various fields and working to develop them, in a way that achieves mutual benefit and common interests. A statement from his media office stated that the Prime Minister received from the Dutch Ambassador a draft memorandum of understanding to establish the Supreme Ministerial Council between the governments of Iraq and the Netherlands, for the purpose of working on ministerial cooperation in all fields, in addition to discussing the issue of the withdrawal of the coalition and entering into bilateral relations between the two countries. During the meeting, the situation and developments in Lebanon and Gaza were discussed, and the importance of seeking to stop the war and deliver relief supplies to the areas affected and those afflicted by the aggression was emphasized. Meanwhile, the spokesman for the government media team, Haider Majeed, announced that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani directed that June 4 of each year be designated as “National Industry Day.”[/size]
