[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The Parliamentary Labor and Civil Society Institutions Committee urged governmental and private bodies and institutions to support the major national campaign to raise awareness of the Retirement and Social Security Law, and to spread awareness to all workers in Iraq with the aim of investing in the law.
The Vice Chairman of the Committee, Hussein Arab, said during the launch ceremony of the major national campaign to raise awareness of the Social Security Law for Workers today, Tuesday, in Baghdad, "We believe that social security is a fundamental pillar for building a cohesive and stable society, and for this reason we laid the first brick since the beginning of the current parliamentary session to legislate the Retirement and Social Security Law for Workers; which is a serious step towards achieving social justice and enhancing the rights of workers in Iraq, whether in the organized or unorganized sector."
He added, "Through this law, we sought to protect working groups from the risks they may be exposed to in their working lives, and to ensure a decent and stable life for them and their families. This national campaign to raise awareness of social security comes as an essential part of efforts to spread awareness about the rights and duties of citizens within this law, simplify their understanding of the services it provides, and encourage everyone to participate in it as part of the fabric of social protection."
He continued, "We worked to make the Social Security Fund a sovereign fund through state support of 15% of the subscription of each worker in the informal sector, and reducing the subscription for employers in the organized sector, to make the work environment more stable." / End 5
