The future of smart cities in Iraq is on the table for discussion

The Preparatory Committee for the First Iraqi Smart Cities Forum held a meeting aimed at shedding light on the future of smart cities in Iraq and the latest solutions and modern applications for smart cities in the world, scheduled to be held early next year.
The Chairman of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, Abdul Razzaq Al-Zuhairi, stressed the Federation's interest in this qualitative forum as well as the importance of strengthening the partnership between the public and private sectors.
Government Directions
Al-Zuhairi told Al-Sabah on the sidelines of the meeting: Iraq needs millions of housing units in all regions of the country, and those who follow the reality of this sector find there is movement within the housing sector represented by the implementation of housing projects in most governorates, and the concerned authorities have begun to oblige many of those in charge of these projects to take into account the government's directions aimed at adopting advanced technologies in the implementation of housing units and that there be modernity in implementation.
Openness of Society
Al-Zuhairi added that following global trends in this field leads Iraq to adopt the idea of building integrated smart cities that provide all the comfort requirements for their occupants, noting that the openness of society to global developments has made it look forward to obtaining advanced housing units.
Digital Economy
This specialized forum comes within the plan of the Federation with the International Chamber of Commerce to achieve the global goals of the International Chamber of Commerce, the most important of which are promoting the digital economy, global trade, and corporate governance.
The meeting was attended by members of the Preparatory Committee from the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, the New Cities Authority - Ministry of Construction and Housing, the National Investment Commission, the National Security Advisory - the National Center for Spatial Data, in addition to the International Chamber of Commerce in Iraq and the company organizing the forum.
