Government Advisor to {Sabah}: Turkish companies’ expertise has given them importance in implementing projects

The Prime Minister's Advisor for Financial Affairs, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, confirmed that the construction, housing, building and irrigation sector has given importance to Turkish companies due to their long experience in implementing giant projects, indicating that Iraqi-Turkish relations constitute one of the most important historical and future ties that mostly govern the development and stability of the region.
Saleh told Al-Sabah: “The Iraqi-Turkish cooperation deserves such a historic and important visit recently made by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, which came in response to an invitation from President Erdogan who visited Iraq earlier, indicating that these mutual visits truly established ways of economic and technical cooperation, especially Turkey’s contribution to the (Strategic Development Road) program that links the South of the world with its European North.
Saleh pointed out that trade with Turkey, especially imports, has always placed Iraq in second or third place after Italy, Germany and the United States, which amounts to an average of (14) billion dollars annually, in addition to the fact that there are nearly one million Iraqi tourists who visit Turkey annually and a similar number of Iraqi residents.
The government advisor stressed that “the construction, housing, building and irrigation sector has given Turkish companies importance for their long experience in implementing giant projects, as our country is in dire need of them,” adding that the issue of water regulation remains crucial and sensitive for Iraq because Turkey is one of the most important sources of water to our country, which is a matter that deserves attention.
