Al-Sudani directs ministries to leave (cash)

In implementation of the financial and economic reform approach, which represents one of the most important priorities of the government, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani directed ministries and all government institutions to abandon cash payments and use electronic payment in collection and other transactions.
According to a statement received by Al-Sabah, the directive stipulated that this be done through "an integrated plan submitted by each ministry or government institution before (December 31, 2024), with actual implementation to begin no later than (July 1, 2025)."
Al-Sudani also directed "working to localize the salaries of private sector employees in line with the government sector, and assigning the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Central Bank of Iraq, with the participation of a number of private sector institutions, to prepare an appropriate mechanism for this purpose."
While chairing a meeting yesterday, Monday, to follow up on the procedures for automating work in customs, he reiterated his emphasis on the importance of abandoning paper transactions in customs and adopting automated electronic dealings.
