On Tuesday, the member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Burhan Sheikh Raouf, stressed the importance of creating a parliamentary political opposition in the Kurdistan Region, whose goal is to rectify the political process without creating problems or crises in the region.
Sheikh Raouf told Al-Maalouma, "All parties in the Kurdistan Region have the freedom to participate in forming the new government or declare non-participation and go to the opposition as a democratic choice."
He added, "One of the shortcomings in the political process in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region is the lack of a real opposition during the past years and stages, as the political process did not witness the presence of a parliamentary opposition."
He added, "There is an urgent need to create a parliamentary political opposition whose goal is to correct the general situation of the country and the political process in particular, away from manifestations of escalation, creating problems and fabricating crises, which is what Iraq and Kurdistan need at the present time."
