Basra MP Rafiq Hashim Al-Salihi revealed on Tuesday a parliamentary move to legalize foreign labor in the province.
Al-Salihi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, "A high percentage of foreign workers entered Basra illegally and in violation of the law."
He added, "The priority of job opportunities should be for the people of the country in general and Basra in particular," noting that "there is parliamentary and governmental coordination to regulate foreign labor within Basra Governorate."
He explained that "organizing and regulating foreign labor will provide hundreds of thousands of new job opportunities for youth and graduates." End / 25 H
