    Economy News - Follow-up
The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities will launch the Housing Fund loan application form at the beginning of next year, revealing that the House of Representatives is currently studying amendments it has prepared to the Fund Law.
The ministry had launched the application for Housing Fund loans last February.
The ministry’s official spokesman, Nabil Al-Saffar, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah” followed by “Al-Eqtisad News”, that the fund provided loans during the current year worth 750 billion dinars among 17,000 applicants, noting that the issuance of loans depends on the financial amounts allocated to it, in addition to the refunds that are recycled to lend to citizens as they are an important capital relied upon in lending.
He revealed that his ministry will launch the application form for the fund’s loans at the beginning of next year 2025 after the availability of financial liquidity and the completion of the necessary administrative and financial procedures, noting that the application for the loan request is exclusively through the (OR) electronic portal according to the applicable standards.
In the same context, Al-Saffar indicated that his ministry, in coordination with the Central Bank and a number of banks, is preparing a study aimed at including applicants for housing units within the new residential cities project with soft loans from banks, but the matter is still under study and has not been decided upon.
In addition, Al-Saffar revealed that the House of Representatives is currently studying draft amendments to the Fund Law, prepared by the ministry and submitted to it in order to facilitate the Fund's lending mechanism and include the largest number of beneficiaries, noting that the amendments include obtaining approval to include citizens wishing to obtain housing units within the new residential cities project currently being implemented by the ministry in Baghdad and the governorates with Fund loans.
Al-Saffar also explained that the study includes finding a mechanism to maximize the Fund's resources to cover all citizens wishing to obtain loans, noting in this regard that there is great momentum to obtain loans, especially after the cancellation of the guarantor requirement for employees and sufficing with the salary guarantee requirement, in addition to raising the loan amount to 60 million dinars, noting that Parliament has not yet decided on these amendments.
