Member of Parliament Kazem Al-Fayyadh called on the government to expedite sending the 2025 budget tables to the Iraqi Council of Representatives.

Al-Fayyadh said that the current year is coming to an end, and despite this, we do not know anything about the 2025 budget tables, nor do we know what projects, financial allocations or financial deficit they include, stressing the need for the government to expedite sending them.

He explained that the budget should normally be voted on before the end of any fiscal year, so that it is ready for disbursement at the beginning of each new year, noting that there is no justification for this delay in sending the tables.

He stressed that many parliamentary letters have been sent from members of parliament to inquire about the date of sending the tables and what they include, adding that until now we have not received any official response from the relevant government agencies.

The Parliamentary Finance Committee confirmed that the House of Representatives does not know anything about the details of the 2025 budget schedules.

Committee member Jamal Koujar said that the House of Representatives has not yet reviewed any of the details of the 2025 budget schedules, and we do not know the size of the budget, the percentage of the deficit, the projects it includes, and other financial issues.

Koujar explained that we do not expect there to be a major or fundamental change in the 2025 budget schedules compared to the past two years, and we believe that the deficit will exist in a hypothetical or real way, and this is what the budget schedules will determine when they reach us and we review them, as there is no official date for their arrival yet.
