The Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry and private sector organizations called on Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to remove the problems that hinder the export of the region's products to the Iraqi provinces.
This came through an official letter addressed to Al-Sudani and signed by: Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Kurdistan Region Exporters and Importers Union - Kurdistan Region Businessmen Union and Kurdistan Region Contractors Union.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the unions participating in the statement considered that “placing obstacles to commercial movement is a clear violation of Article (24) of the Iraqi Constitution.”
According to the letter sent to Al-Sudani, Article (24) of the country’s constitution states that the state “guarantees the freedom of movement of Iraqi labor, goods, and capital between the regions and governorates.”
Stressing that these obstacles also disrupt “the process of development and economic integration in Iraq,” despite the federal government adopting important plans and measures to achieve them.
