    Baghdad Today - Sulaymaniyah
Kurdish politician Nejat Najmuddin commented on Sunday (November 10, 2024) on the impact of the Kurdish conflict with Türkiye after Donald Trump's election to the presidency of the United States of America.
Najmuddin said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "American policy is not stable, nor is Trump's policy, and his positions on the Kurdish issue or other issues in the Middle East cannot be relied upon."
He added, "Trump's policy is a commercial policy and he cares about the economic interests of his country, and he does not care about the issues of the Middle East. He wanted to withdraw from Syria in his first term and leave the Kurds to face their fate in exchange for Türkiye, but Congress prevented him, so he cannot be relied upon at all."
Observers expect that Trump's policy towards the Middle East will not witness a radical shift, but he will be pragmatic, less inclined towards external confrontations, and more inward-looking. They believe that it is difficult to predict his true orientations, because he does not follow coherent paths and may take unexpected steps.
