    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]The Ministry of Environment announced the closure of 144 illegal metal smelting factories to reduce pollution.[/rtl]
[rtl]Ministry spokesman Louay Sadiq Al-Mukhtar said, "What happened in Baghdad in terms of emissions and increased environmental loads is the result of the use of unclean fuel in some industries, in addition to the increase in the number of cars."[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Mukhtar added, "The government and the Ministry of Environment, through its official institutions, have taken rapid and effective measures that have led to a reduction in pollution," expressing his hope that "the measures will continue in a sustainable manner to improve air quality in Baghdad and avoid a recurrence of the phenomenon of smog accompanied by a suffocating odor and a high concentration of fine particles."[/rtl]
[rtl]Al-Mukhtar pointed out that "the Environmental Police, Civil Defense, and Baghdad Operations took important measures regarding environmental pollution, including conducting 364 inspections of sites throughout the capital and the rest of the governorates."[/rtl]
[rtl]He pointed out that "28 warnings were issued to violating sites, a number of illegal brick factories were closed in Baghdad, and 144 irregular factories that smelted metals were closed."[/rtl]
