Baghdad/Al-Masala: Political analyses indicated that the visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, to the Kurdistan Region and his meeting with the Prime Minister of the Region, Masrour Barzani, comes at a crucial moment to rearrange priorities, especially with regard to oil issues and the formation of the new government.
According to information, Al-Sudani expressed the federal government's readiness to provide support, stressing the need to resume the region's oil exports on a regular basis, after a long halt that affected the region's financial resources and created internal political tensions.
Informed sources said that Al-Sudani did not just congratulate the success of the regional parliament elections, but also took advantage of the meeting to emphasize the need to regulate oil exports in a way that achieves the interests of all parties, adding that implementing the Federal Court’s decision regarding the salaries of employees in the region would be a step towards strengthening trust between Baghdad and Erbil.
A citizen from Erbil commented on the meeting, saying, “Citizens are waiting to see tangible results on the ground. The recurring crises over salaries and oil are weighing on everyone, and it is time to create permanent solutions.”
A tweet by one activist added another dimension to the discussion, saying: “Al-Sudani and Barzani are looking for immediate solutions, but will they be able to overcome the ongoing obstacles? Or will Baghdad and Erbil continue to revolve in the same circle?”
According to some analyses, the stability of the region has become directly linked to the stability of Iraq as a whole, as cooperation between the two governments is seen as an indispensable pillar for the continuation of security and stability in the country.
An informed political source said that Al-Sudani has a roadmap in his pocket aimed at strengthening cooperation between Baghdad and Erbil, not only on the oil file, but also on other issues such as the population census. This census is seen as the basis for comprehensive development planning, which will require close cooperation with the regional statistics authority to ensure the accuracy and transparency of the process.
Economic analyses considered that resolving the oil and salary issues between Baghdad and Erbil is not just a purely economic issue, but rather a step towards political and social stability in the region. These analyses expected that resuming and regulating oil exports could provide Kurdistan with additional resources that would contribute to improving the standard of living and open new horizons for development projects.
Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani discussed with Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani in Erbil today the resumption of the region's oil exports and the formation of the new government, stressing the federal government's readiness to support these efforts. According to a statement issued by al-Sudani's media office, this visit comes within the framework of cooperation between Baghdad and Erbil to resolve pending issues that affect the lives of citizens, especially with regard to the Federal Court's decision on the salaries of the region's employees, which is one of the issues that enhances dialogue between the two parties.
Al-Sudani stressed the importance of maintaining the stability of the Kurdistan Region as a pillar of national security, expressing his appreciation for the level of cooperation currently existing between the two governments, and looking forward to greater support in vital areas, such as regulating oil exports and preparations for the population census, in cooperation with the statistics authority in the region.
