    Economy News - Follow-up
[rtl]Türkiye warned against dragging Iraq into a "cycle of violence" in the Middle East, while it expected a "close breakthrough" in the file of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.[/rtl]
[rtl]Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that Turkey stresses in its contacts with all parties the need not to drag Iraq into a cycle of violence, and provides the "most important" support for efforts to strengthen and rebuild this country.[/rtl]
[rtl]During a discussion of the foreign ministry's budget in the Turkish parliament's planning committee that was held on Thursday and continued until early Friday morning, Fidan described Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Iraq last April as a "decisive turning point" in relations between Ankara and Baghdad.[/rtl]
[rtl]He stated that 27 legal documents were signed during the visit to strengthen the institutional framework of Iraqi-Turkish relations, adding that they are effectively managing cooperation mechanisms with Iraq, fully supporting the “Development Road” project in which Turkey is a natural partner, and intensifying contacts focused on security and counter-terrorism with Iraq.[/rtl]
[rtl]The Turkish Foreign Minister described his country's relations with the Kurdistan Region of Iraq as "extraordinary" and very good, and Ankara seeks to resolve the problems between Baghdad and Erbil. He announced positive developments regarding the region's oil exports.[/rtl]
[rtl]Regarding the “Development Road” project, Fidan said that Türkiye attaches great importance to the project, and he considered that with this project a positive issue was put on the agenda for the first time with Iraq.[/rtl]
[rtl]He added that Turkey cannot impose a choice against Iraq's preference for the border gate for the "development road", and Baghdad and Erbil must meet together and decide which border gate will be preferred.[/rtl]
[rtl]Regarding the resumption of the export of Kurdistan Region oil, via the pipeline that transports it to the port of Ceyhan in southern Turkey (Kirkuk-Yumurtalik pipeline) for export, Fidan said that there is good news, and we expect good developments soon, especially with regard to the opening of the pipeline.[/rtl]
[rtl]“We have made our preparations. We hope that the pipeline will be opened. (The development route) is very important, and it may also include northern Russia, by connecting it to the Southern Logistics Corridor at some point. It seems that it could turn into a better project. We are serious about this,” he added.[/rtl]
