The Finance Committee in the Iraqi Parliament said on Wednesday that it does not know anything about the 2025 budget schedules.
Committee member Moeen Al-Kazemi said in a press interview followed by "Mawazine News" that "the Parliamentary Finance Committee and the House of Representatives in general do not know anything about the 2025 budget schedules, as it has not officially reached it and has not been reviewed yet," expressing his belief that the budget "is still being completed by the relevant government agencies in the Ministries of Finance and Planning."
Al-Kazemi added: "There is no specific time to send these schedules to the House of Representatives, but we hope to send them quickly so that they can be studied in depth and seek to amend anything in them that we see necessary for that amendment in accordance with the powers granted to us regarding the transfer between spending items only, without adding any financial aspect to those schedules."
Regarding the issue of tampering with the 2024 budget schedules, member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee Moeen Al-Kazemi confirmed that "this file is now with the judiciary and it is investigating it, and all evidence proving the existence of tampering has been submitted due to the existence of three different versions of these schedules, and the final say remains with the judiciary."
Yesterday, Tuesday, the House of Representatives completed the first reading of the draft law amending the first three-year budget law and adjourned its session.
