The Iraqi Ministry of Communications confirmed that it does not block any website based on personal opinions or individual decisions, but rather implements this based on official directives issued by the relevant authorities in the country.
The ministry explained in a statement that “the blocking procedures come in compliance with the decision of the Federal Supreme Court and the decision of the Iraqi Council of Representatives to block pornographic websites.”
The ministry pointed out that "the media attacks it is being subjected to aim to disrupt its functional and ethical role, stressing that these systematic campaigns will not deter it from performing its duty to protect the ethical system and the Iraqi social fabric."
The statement added that “attempts to present some pornographic sites under other names, such as movie or series rating sites, do not change their nature as sources that promote immoral content.”
The ministry called on “citizens to be accurate and objective and not to be led by campaigns targeting the moral values of Iraqi society, stressing its commitment to preserving the social fabric and authentic values.”
