Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani discussed today, Friday, November 29, 2024, with a Spanish company the establishment of railway lines linking 4 governorates in addition to connecting some of them to the Iranian city of Mehran.
The Prime Minister's media office said in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that Al-Sudani "received, at his residence in the capital Madrid, today, Friday, a delegation representing the Imathia Consulting Company, which specializes in trains, and stressed the importance of the presence of Spanish companies to invest in Iraq," noting that "signing two previous contracts with Imathia Company falls within the confidence that Spanish companies enjoy in the investment sector in Iraq."
According to the statement, the two sides discussed "the investment project to establish the Najaf-Karbala railway line and their proposal to extend the line to Baghdad, as a contract had previously been signed with the company to establish two railway lines (Basra-Shalamcheh), and a memorandum of understanding to establish the (Mehran-Kut-Karbala) railway line."
