    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Member of Parliament Kazem Al-Fayyadh confirmed today, Friday (November 29, 2024), that amending the budget law schedules requires more time for the purpose of voting on it inside the parliament dome.
Al-Fayadh said in an interview with Baghdad Today, "The amendment to the budget law sent by the government to the House of Representatives needs more time for the purpose of voting on it," noting that "there are comments from some representatives to add amendments to the budget, and all of these are the subject of discussion between the blocs."
He added, "There are parliamentary objections to increasing the cost of oil production for the Kurdistan Region, and this amendment requires dialogue and understandings between the political forces, as such an amendment requires a political agreement."
Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Jamal Kojer, confirmed on Monday (November 25, 2024) that Parliament will raise the costs of producing the region’s oil in the 2025 budget, while explaining that the reason for this is the resumption of the export process.
On November 5, 2024, the Council of Ministers approved the proposal to amend Article 12/Second/C of the Triennial Budget Law No. 13 of 2023 regarding the oil of the Kurdistan Region.
