    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
Security expert Ahmed Al-Tamimi presented, today, Sunday (December 1, 2024), a reading about the reasons for the fall of the second largest Syrian city into the hands of the armed factions.
Al-Tamimi told Baghdad Today, "The fall of Aleppo, the second largest city in Syria, in less than 48 hours due to the armed factions is very similar to what happened in Mosul, with some differences, but it is the same tools and perhaps the same contexts, with the difference that the battle of Mosul had bloody confrontations, but the end was the same in the same paths."
He added, "The plan to overthrow Aleppo was part of the plan of the factions supported by America, Ankara, and Western countries, and there are Arab countries involved in various ways through the compass of their media, but it was not expected that this city would collapse in less than 48 hours."
He pointed out that "the battle to control Aleppo and its countryside began with five important assassinations, the details of which have not been announced yet, including the assassination of the most important Iranian Revolutionary Guard officers in Aleppo and Syrian military leaders through drones, in addition to paralyzing central communications between the units and controlling the message lines, which confused the military establishment, along with an unprecedented media hype, all of which caused intertwined collapses that led to the fall of Aleppo."
He explained that "Syrian military leaders are involved in what happened, perhaps through promises of safety or money, but in any case what happened was carefully planned and the real battle is in Homs because controlling it means cutting off the communication routes between Latakia and Damascus and isolating the latter from Russian support and supplies coming from the Hmeimim base."
An informed source inside Russia revealed yesterday, Saturday, that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad made a phone call to a high-ranking official in the Iraqi government, during which he requested military action from the factions to support his government in stopping the attack launched by the militants in Aleppo .
The source told Baghdad Today, "Assad called a high-ranking Iraqi official without mentioning his identity, and asked him to provide military assistance by sending the forces of the factions stationed in Iraq to Syria with the aim of stopping the expansion of militants affiliated with the Tahrir al-Sham Front, which is on the terrorist lists ."
The source indicated that "the Iraqi official did not make promises to the Syrian president that would guarantee the movement of the Iraqi factions towards Syria," suggesting that "the news of a military coup in Damascus is a reason preventing the Iraqi factions from moving towards Syria at the present time," according to his description .
It is noteworthy that foreign sources announced the existence of what they called a "military coup" currently taking place in the Syrian capital, Damascus, where sources differed in announcing the alleged coup leader, between the president's brother Maher al-Assad, and others suggesting that it was led by the head of intelligence, Hussam Louka.
