    Baghdad Today - Beirut
Lebanese Parliament member Qassem Hashem confirmed today, Saturday (November 30, 2024), that Iraqi support will be essential in the campaign to rebuild Lebanon after the crisis, pointing to the return of many displaced families to their areas inside Lebanon.
In his interview with Baghdad Today, the Lebanese parliament member accused the "Zionist entity of not adhering to the ceasefire, noting that "its planes returned to aerial bombardment, while its forces attempted to penetrate the ground to occupy Lebanon."
He added, "The Zionist entity's aircraft have returned to targeting the areas, and its forces are continuing their attempts to advance on the ground despite the announcement of a ceasefire."
He stressed that "the international five-member ceasefire monitoring committee is following what is happening, and we will see how things will go in light of the Zionist entity's breach of its agreement."
In another context, Hashem pointed out that "many displaced families inside Lebanon have returned to their homes, expecting the return of displaced people from other countries, including Iraq.
He explained that "the families who returned received appreciation and care from the Iraqi government, which thanked them through Baghdad Today."
He added, "The reconstruction campaign will depend mainly on the support that will be provided by a fund from brotherly and friendly countries, including Iraq."
The return of the displaced Lebanese and the withdrawal of Hezbollah beyond the Litani River is the biggest test of the agreement, as the Lebanese government agreed to the ceasefire formula contained in the joint American-French statement, stressing that the Lebanese army is the security reference in southern Lebanon.
Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri urged the displaced to return immediately to their homes and live there even if they are on the rubble, in a clear challenge to the Israelis who insist on delaying the return of the residents, especially to the southern Lebanese region, where Israeli soldiers fired into the air to intimidate and prevent southern residents from heading to their villages.
