    Baghdad Today - Baghdad
A number of citizens in Baghdad areas appealed, today, Monday (January 2, 2024), to the government and the concerned authorities to find a solution to the crisis of power outages in their areas, and the continuation of the outage to reach more than 20 hours a day.
They said in statements to the correspondent of "Baghdad Today", "For days, electricity has been almost non-existent in our areas, to the point where private generators are turned off for rest, because they are operated for long hours, reaching more than 12 continuous hours."
According to citizens, "the reason for the power outage is still unknown to them, as the Ministry of Electricity has not announced a logical reason other than the pretext of stopping Iranian gas supplies to Diyala Governorate and not Baghdad."
They called on "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to put an end to the failure of the Minister of Electricity and the Ministry and their inability to find a solution to this problem, which is supposed to worsen in the summer and not the winter as is happening now."
Some of them said that they "returned to the old traditional methods of heating water by placing it on the "cooker" or oil-fired heaters, as a result of the "heaters" stopping working on electricity that was absent from their homes for periods of up to more than 20 hours a day."
