[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani stressed that the Iraq Development Fund is a new idea for managing the state by empowering the private sector.
Al-Sudani said during his chairmanship of a meeting of the Fund's Board of Directors that it is hoped to enact a special law for the fund, noting that the fund is a new idea for managing the state by empowering the private sector.
He added that we have a brave and bold private sector that is technically and financially prepared to work and solve crises.
A statement from his media office said that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani sponsored today, Monday, the launch ceremony of the "Edoba" project in its first phase, to build 600 new school buildings in all governorates of Iraq, within the projects of the Iraq Development Fund, as the implementation will be carried out through the private sector, after completing all procedures and technical requirements to start construction and implementation.
He explained that, during the ceremony, the accreditation contract was signed for the global consulting company "Meinhard" to be the consultant for the fund's projects, as well as signing a contract with Yarim Contracting Company, one of the twelve private sector companies that will undertake the implementation of the first phase of the project, and the two contracts were signed by the Fund's Executive Director, Mohammed Al-Najjar.
Al-Sudani pointed out, in his speech during the ceremony, that the Iraq Development Fund embodies the beginning of a new phase of development work, and highlights the government's vision to achieve a strong and sustainable economy, putting Iraq on the path to prosperity and stability, enhanced by the effective participation of the private sector.
He said: We have started a new step to build schools through the Iraq Development Fund, and the country needs (8-10) thousand schools.
He added: We have completed the procedures for the structure of the Iraq Development Fund, and we are working on preparing a draft law for it, which will be submitted to the House of Representatives.
Al-Sudani stressed that the Iraqi private sector is capable and ready to work in all circumstances, and has contributed to building a lot of infrastructure, pointing out that infrastructure is one of the most prominent problems in the education sector, and new designs and modern technologies have been adopted in services and maintenance.
He said: We trust the ability of the private sector in the task of establishing schools, and the lands have been prepared. He
continued: We have 600 schools, and there are 12 companies with great capabilities ready to build dozens of schools.
He stressed the importance of coordination between the Ministry of Education and the governorates to allocate lands and build schools according to technical specifications, and we have a consultant who will follow up on the implementation.
He said that the Ministry of Education was the first station of the Development Fund projects, and the second phase will be for housing.
He added: We will move towards building residential complexes according to the principle of (rent and own), and housing units will be allocated to the families of martyrs and the wounded.
Al-Sudani stressed that granting sovereign guarantees is an important step to reform the economic reality and support the private sector.
He added: We signed an agreement in Spain with the Testa Foundation to provide support from 200 million euros to one billion euros, in agreement with the Trade Bank of Iraq.
