    Economy News - Baghdad
The Ministry of Health revealed, on Monday, that it had contracted with a group of private sector hospitals and laboratories to include them in health insurance. While it also confirmed that it had contracted with a company to begin the procedures for automating the insurance, it indicated that those included would receive a biometric card that included their medical file.
Director General of the Social Security Fund, Ali Ahmed, said in a statement reported by the official news agency, and reviewed by "Al-Eqtisad News", "The Social Security Authority, under the direct direction of the Minister of Health, Saleh Al-Hasnawi, has moved towards a group of contracts, including private clinics or private wings affiliated with the Department of Popular Clinics, the number of which exceeds 28 health institutions working to provide these services, with the involvement of the private sector in contracting with a group of hospitals and dental centers to provide health insurance services."
He explained that "there is a trend within the government program of the Prime Minister, regarding the automation and digitization of procedures, as the Social Security Authority worked on preparing an RFB document for the integrated electronic health insurance system that works on automating electronic procedures, and all axes were carried out in this regard," explaining that "a contract was signed by the Social Security Authority with one of the leading specialized companies in this field, and the implementation of this project has begun and will see the light within a year."
He stated that "the citizen covered by the guarantee will be given a biometric card to be the medical file of the insured and the patient, and he will be able to visit all service providers spread throughout Baghdad at the present time."
He explained that "a group of private sector service providers in the governorates will be contracted to be included and entered into the system of this electronic system," noting that "one of the objectives of the health insurance law is to encourage the private sector to invest in the health sector, and this is the direction of the government and the direction of our ministry. The Social Security Authority has worked to open up to the private sector by including the private sector and involving it as a service provider for those covered by health insurance."
He stressed that "our authority has worked to open the advertisement for those who wish to provide services to more than 100 institutions in the private sector, as all of these institutions have been evaluated according to studied standards prepared by the Social Security Authority in coordination with the Ministry of Health."
He stated that, "In the next two weeks, contracts will be signed with an additional group of hospitals, laboratories and dental centers and they will be included as additional service providers within the health insurance system, considering the services as sought by the Insurance Authority in addition to the services that are distinguished by quality."
He stressed that "there are a number of challenges with a plan to solve them, including the failure of ministries to provide data to employees," calling on "the ministries and departments covered by health insurance procedures to quickly provide the Social Security Authority with data on employees and their family members so that we can display or upload them to the Or platform and allocate special numbers to those covered by insurance in order to receive special services," noting that "the amount of support provided by the Social Security Authority reaches 75% for employees."
He stressed that "the amount of support for those covered by the social welfare network and included in the social security system reaches 95 percent."
He explained that "the other challenge is the financial aspect, such as financial liquidity and financial allocation, as the guarantee cannot operate at its pace without the availability of financial allocations," noting that "one of the obstacles is the weakness of the financial funding that comes to the Guarantee Authority, considering that the Authority is a non-profit institution."
He stated, "There is coordination with the Ministry of Finance to facilitate the procedures for the insured, who are rather Iraqi patients."
