Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani stressed that Syria's security represents national security for Iraq, and while the Coordination Framework expressed its concern about developments in the region, the supreme religious authority responded to the Syrians' call and ordered their relief in the Damascus countryside.
During yesterday's cabinet session, the Prime Minister spoke about the developments taking place in the region, especially what is happening in Syria, which represents national security for Iraq, stressing that the government has worked since its formation to raise the level of readiness of the security forces and fortify the Iraqi borders.
He pointed out that a series of contacts were made with a number of leaders of countries regarding the situation in Syria in order to support stability in the region and prevent any repercussions there, especially with the ongoing criminal Zionist war that has been going on for more than a year, stressing the importance of coordinating positions with brotherly and friendly countries in the region in order to prevent matters in Syria from slipping into dangerous stages.
In addition, the Coordination Framework stressed that Syria's security is an extension of Iraqi national security due to the geographical proximity between the two countries.
The media department of the Coordination Framework stated in a statement: “The Coordination Framework held its regular meeting in the office of Mr. Ammar al-Hakim in the presence of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani,” noting that “the Coordination Framework expressed its concern about what is happening in Syria from the occupation of important areas by terrorists.”
The Coordination Framework considered “Syria’s security an extension of Iraqi national security for the geographical proximity between the two countries and the various extensions of that proximity,” appreciating “the great efforts made by the government and the security forces of all kinds and the declaration of high readiness and full preparedness to protect the borders between the two countries.”
At the same time, the Coordination Framework reassured “the Iraqi people regarding the developments and urged them not to pay attention to the media and psychological war that promotes lies.”
The Coordination Framework appreciated “the wise positions of some Arab, regional and international governments that stand against the violation of the sovereignty of states and the tyranny of the forces of darkness driven by clear foreign agendas.”
    Meanwhile, the
Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, under the direction of the religious authority, began providing relief to the Syrians who were displaced due to the terrorist acts taking place in their areas, after they appealed to it in a video clip of a number of displaced persons near the shrine of Sayyidah Zaynab (peace be upon her) in the Damascus countryside. The head of the Public Relations Department at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, Abdul Amir Taha Al-Mutawari, said in a statement: "In response to the calls made by the brothers from the Syrian people, the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, under the direction of the representative of the supreme religious authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbala'i, began extending the contracts of the rented hotels in the Sayyidah Zaynab (peace be upon her) area, which housed the Lebanese brothers, where the displaced Syrian brothers were housed in the Damascus countryside governorate from the areas witnessing terrorist acts."
He continued, "About (2000) people were housed in those hotels and meals were provided to them."
He added, "Meals are provided to displaced Syrians, whether those who live in hotels rented by the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, or others who have arrived in the area. Food baskets, mattresses, blankets, and winter clothes have also been distributed to them."
He explained that “these efforts come within the paternal care of the supreme religious authority, the approach and principles of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein and the representative of the supreme religious authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbala’i, who spared no effort in providing relief to these afflicted and oppressed families. Therefore, the administration of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein rushed to respond to these calls and provide safe shelter and a decent life for our Syrian brothers.”
Activists on social media circulated a video clip in which residents of the Al-Zahraa area in the city of Aleppo appealed to the supreme religious authority, Sayyid Ali Al-Sistani, to intervene and help the displaced from the city that was controlled by the militants of Jabhat Al-Nusra.[/size]
