Shafaq News/ Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani arrived today at the House of Representatives building, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning Mohammed Tamim, and Minister of Interior Abdul Amir al-Shammari.
Al-Sudani was received by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, where the meeting is scheduled to discuss a number of important issues related to the work of the government and coordination with the legislative authority.
The House of Representatives voted at the beginning of the hosting session that the session would be "secret" with regard to the security aspect.
In turn, Al-Sudani's office said in a statement that the Prime Minister reviewed, in the House of Representatives session, the government policies and measures taken to confront the region's challenges and developments since the events of October 7, 2023.
Today, Wednesday, the Iraqi Parliament will host Al-Sudani at his request to discuss the government’s policies and priorities in confronting regional and local challenges.
According to the parliamentary legal committee, the session will address the implementation of the government program and the most prominent security, economic, and service files, in addition to developments on the Iraqi border following the events in Syria.
The Parliament affirmed its support for any steps that enhance security and stability, with a focus on the ministerial reshuffle and observations on government performance.
