    Economy News - Baghdad
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani stressed on Wednesday that executive work requires supporting and monitoring legislative work, while he pointed out that integration between the executive and legislative authorities is the essence of our democratic system, commenting on his hosting during today’s parliament session.
Al-Sudani said, in a post on his official page on the "X" platform, which was viewed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "during our hosting in the House of Representatives today, based on our request, we reviewed, along with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Planning and Interior, the policies and measures taken to confront the challenges of the region, and we provided a brief explanation of the progress of implementing the government program, and the rates of achievement achieved on the path of the basic priorities in the program, and we explained the necessities of the ministerial amendment, amending the Federal General Budget Law, and the need for legislation and laws to proceed with the achievement."
He added: "We believe that achieving the goals of executive work requires supportive and monitoring legislative work. The integration between the executive and legislative authorities is the essence of our democratic system, which continues thanks to respect for constitutional foundations and the sacrifices of our great people, whom we are honored to serve in our various positions of responsibility."
The Prime Minister continued: “We extend our thanks and appreciation to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, his deputies, and the ladies and gentlemen members of the esteemed Council for hosting us and performing their legislative and oversight role in a manner that embodies keenness, responsibility, and patriotism.”
Earlier today, Wednesday, the House of Representatives held its 19th session of the current legislative term, headed by the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi.
The media department of the council said in a statement, which was reviewed by "Al-Eqtisad News", that "Al-Mandlawi opened the 19th session with the attendance of 183 representatives."
In a second statement, the department said that the House of Representatives hosted Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, at his request, along with the ministers of planning, interior and foreign affairs, to “discuss the government’s policies and the measures it is taking to confront the challenges and developments taking place in the region.”
