    Information / Special..
The leader of the State of Law Coalition, former MP Jassim Mohammed Jaafar, confirmed on Thursday that most political forces are in favor of amending the elections law that was sent by the presidency.
Jaafar said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, "The proposal to amend the election law was sent by the presidency of the republic and was not a proposal by the State of Law Coalition as some are promoting, but we are in favor of this proposal because it will open the way for independents and small parties to reach the parliament dome," explaining that "the government is not in favor of this approach and prefers to keep the current law because it serves Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani."
He added, "The proposal of the presidency of the republic stipulates that the percentage of 20% be for the highest votes and 80% according to the Saint-Lague law, whether 1.7 or 1.9, and it is left to the agreement of the political blocs," noting that "the majority of political forces are in favor of the proposed law."
It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives voted during its session held on the 27th of last August on the third amendment to the House of Representatives, Provincial and District Councils Elections Law No. (12) of 2018. End / 25 AD
