{Local: Al Furat News} The head of the Atomic Energy Commission and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Naeem Al-Aboudi, announced the imminent agreement with one of the countries, including China, South Korea, or Russia, to establish a rock nuclear reactor that will be concerned with training students.
Al-Aboudi said in a press conference held during his visit to Dhi Qar Governorate that "there is approval from the International Atomic Energy Agency and a direction from the federal government to establish small nuclear power stations in light of the agreements and discussions in this regard that the ministry hopes will take their way towards implementation."
He pointed out that "there are steps in the matter of legislation, as a cell that had been suspended since the nineties was opened and was restarted by the Iraqi scientific cadre and will have a positive impact on the health and agriculture sectors."
Al-Aboudi explained that "the subject of nuclear energy is moving and will take its place in implementation."
